Northjersey.com: Thanks to My Son and a NJ Pregnancy Resource Center, My Plans Were Changed for the Better

Ultimately, I did not get into the speech pathology program, but I wound up with something better, a beautiful baby boy, Matthew.

After I gave birth to Matthew, the center threw a tremendous baby shower full of food, games and gifts, for a group of women, including me. I left the shower with a full heart, and a car piled to the top with all the supplies Matthew and I could need.

The time with my newborn son allowed me to reflect on my future and the career path I truly wanted.

I went back to school and soon had my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in behavioral therapy. I attended both graduations with Matthew by my side, proving that it is possible to be successful and be a single mother at the same time.

I now work as a behavioral analyst and I could not be happier. I see every day how my experiences having and raising Matthew prepared me for this work. Matthew gave me a change of direction in my life, but ultimately landed me exactly where I am supposed to be. I now volunteer at the center in hopes of being able to give back to the very place that gave me my world.
