Connecting and Growing the Pro-Life Safety Net
We mobilize communities to help them both, mom and baby.
Sixty percent of women who had an abortion said they would not have if they had received more emotional or financial support. Women who seek abortions are typically already single moms living in poverty – afraid they won’t be able to feed the children already at their kitchen table, or dependent on an abusive partner for shelter.
Local pregnancy centers, churches, and neighbors are where she turns first, but they want and need help from community partners to meet complex needs like housing, childcare, transportation and mental health. Too often those resources are hard to find, absent, or over capacity. That is where Her PLAN steps in to help them help her.
The Pro-Life Safety Net
The Pro-Life Safety Net includes seven categories of care that encompass the charities, ministries and organizations that address the needs that drive women to resort to abortion.

Her PLAN is dedicated to ensuring pregnancy centers, churches, and communities have access to local resources they need to help pregnant moms choose life and sustain their choice for life throughout her pregnancy.
To make this possible, we developed a framework for the “pro-life safety net,” which provides the basis for everything we do. This framework includes traditional pro-life organizations like pregnancy centers, maternity homes and single and teen mom support groups, but also includes the charities, ministries and public assistance necessary to address her specific material and emotional needs – shelters, addiction recovery, food pantries, church counseling programs.
Her choice for life is not a singular point in time decision. She is making that choice every day of her pregnancy. All Her PLAN programs enable local communities to increase her access to the resources that sustain her decision for life.

Her Community
At the local level the Her PLAN team builds Her Community coalitions comprised of public officials, charities, ministries, businesses and individuals. Together, they assess the adequacy of their local pro-life safety net and identify opportunities to expand or launch resources that address unmet need. Often this work leads to establishing new resources or growth of under-resourced, high-demand programs in the community.
Her Neighbors
Recognizing that women in need are best served by Her Neighbors in her own community, Her PLAN’s Pathway’s Program offers models for expanding the pro-life safety net, so communities can duplicate proven approaches in their own community.
Her PLAN Directory
The Her PLAN Directory provides access to over 8,000 vetted pro-life safety net resources across 29 states. Each listing is reviewed to ensure they meet quality and life-affirming standards customized to uniquely vet over 200 services contained in our seven categories of care. Her Care Partners
Recognizing that pregnancy center clients often need extensive support (similar to social work) to make and follow their plan for a more hopeful future, Her PLAN launched Her Care Partners to support this elevated care at pregnancy centers.
