Community Collaboration: The Crucial Link

Have you been watching the news? It is entirely possible the Supreme Court will roll back or nullify the Roe v. Wade abortion decision within a year when it decides Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

While anticipating this moment – whether it happens soon or farther down the road – churches, pro-lifers, and life-affirming assistance providers will continue caring for their community’s pregnant and parenting women and families.

The question is: Are we ready to serve women who choose life not only today but also when abortion is no longer an option?

It’s common sense that vulnerable women and children are best served when their community collaborates to provide holistic care. Relying on each other’s strengths and areas of expertise, these groups will together build a pro-life safety net to facilitate long-term success.

In turn, faith communities benefit from strong and healthy families, and by knowing where to find trustworthy assistance.

Her PLAN staff hopes to serve the faith community by identifying each church’s unique strengths that will enable them to best serve women and children in need. We provide resources to enable a church to partner with a specialized provider or ministry, or to serve women directly. We also suggest curricula to educate church members on relevant topics.

A Guide for Churches to Help Pregnant and Parenting Moms in Need

Get the Pathways Guide for Your State

Her PLAN has developed a practical guide for church leaders called, “Pathways to Life: A Guide for Churches to Help Pregnant and Parenting Moms in Need.”

We have identified seven basic reasons pregnant mothers in crisis list as to why they considered abortion. Your church is likely already involved in responding to one or more of these reasons – and you may not even realize it.

Bearing in mind your church’s unique personality, cultural surroundings, and often existing ministries, this guide presents ideas and models on how to become involved, or expand your reach, to save babies and moms from abortion.

Each of the seven categories in our guide includes:

  • Section A, Basic: Ideas on collaborating with local life-affirming assistance providers to strengthen the safety net of support for pregnant and parenting moms and families in need.
  • Section B, Advanced: Ideas to launch your own life-affirming assistance program.
  • Section C, Education: Curricula, books, and articles your members, either corporately or in small groups, can learn more about this category.

Take the Church Pro-Life Assessment

The Her PLAN Church Pro-Life Assessment is an easy and powerful way to explore how your church currently responds to the seven primary reasons pregnant women seek abortions. With this information, we can help you identify opportunities to build on your current programs.
