Saline County

Her PLAN is here to help community members who want to provide that
support to moms and their babies.

Saline County is a suburban county in Central Arkansas located half an hour southwest of Little Rock. Interstate 30 runs through Saline and brings high traffic from travel between Texas and Tennessee. Because of this proximity to the interstate, many resources and infrastructure are more easily accessible.

How Her PLAN works in Saline County

When growing communities don’t have the current resources and jobs necessary to support new families, Her PLAN is here to help community members who want to provide that support to moms and their babies. Together, Her PLAN and local leaders assess community needs, respond with projects and programs to fill them, and ensure this vulnerable demographic has their needs met.

About Saline County

Her PLAN launched the state program in Arkansas in 2025 with the first Her Community officially launched in January 2026 in Saline County. Since then, community coalitions of local leaders, providers, and organizations have banded together to meet the needs of abortion-vulnerable women right in their own neighborhoods.

Care Support

Her Community Assets

Saline County is especially well-equipped in a few areas to support moms. Here is where your
community is already making a difference.

A woman and a child sit at a desk smiling at each other. Books, notebooks, and a laptop are on the desk, and sunlight streams through the window behind them.
Care for Children

Childcare

Saline has many childcare centers located throughout the county. However, there are a minimal amount who accept government vouchers, which the abortion-vulnerable woman may need to ensure her older children have access to safe, reliable childcare.

A pregnant woman sits at a desk with a healthcare professional, both smiling and reviewing charts and documents together in a medical office. A notepad and pen are on the desk.
Women's Health

Medical Care

Saline Memorial Hospital provides labor and delivery as well as crucial medical care for moms. Many OBGYNs accept Medicaid and the hospital is located down the street from the local pregnancy center.

Where help is still needed

Every community has areas where more support is needed. These are the gaps Her PLAN and local leaders in Saline County are actively working to address and where your involvement can make a real difference.

Housing

Stable housing options are extremely limited

There are limited affordable housing options and waitlists for subsidized housing are years long. There is no maternity home in Saline or any of the neighboring communities.

Childcare

Limited affordable and flexible childcare options

There are many childcare facilities in Saline, but few are willing to accept state vouchers that a mom may rely on in order to access safe childcare for her older children.

Transportation

Getting around is a barrier for moms here

There is no public transportation available in Saline. While there are privately owned transportation options, these come with limitations that often make them unreliable for abortion-vulnerable women.

After-Abortion Healing

No support for women in need of healing

There is no support offered for after-abortion healing in Saline County. However, preliminary work has begun to develop a program in a local church facility using a model currently offered in Little Rock.
