Washington, D.C. – Her PLAN announced Wednesday the expansion of their Her Care Partner pilot program equipping pregnancy centers to provide intensive case management support to meet complex client needs. The pilot program began with three sites in Tennessee in 2025. The expansion brings on six additional sites in Tennessee and West Virginia.

With dangerous mail-order abortion drugs being trafficked into pro-life states like Tennessee and West Virginia at alarming rates post Dobbs, real support for women is more critical than ever. Drug-induced abortions now account for the majority of abortions in the United States, undermining pro-life laws and putting women and their unborn children at risk of abortion coercion. The Her Care Partner pilot program counters this looming threat of abortion drugs with a community of support that meets her critical needs.

Her PLAN’s approach in the pilot is holistic and personal, helping women set and reach their own goals while connecting them to needed support. Her Care Partners receive extensive training on trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, goal setting, and more. Care Partners are paid, full-time staff employed by local pregnancy centers who walk with women who courageously choose life and build a relationship with her that upholds her inherent dignity and agency as they plan for her future together.

Her PLAN Executive Director Autumn Christensen celebrated the milestone:

“Women facing some of life’s most difficult circumstances – homelessness, addiction, domestic violence, and poverty – while pregnant or parenting young children deserve to have a stable and robust support system in place to help them navigate motherhood and achieve their goals. Pregnancy centers are on the front lines providing this critical support to meet complex needs.

We recognize that pregnancy center clients often need extensive support to make and follow their plan for a more hopeful future. That’s why Her PLAN’s Care Partner pilot exists: to meet this need and equip pregnancy centers to provide elevated professional care for complex client needs. Our program trains staff to work with moms to overcome barriers and set goals, to refer for resources, and to walk alongside her as she pursues her goals so she can go from needing housing or financial stability to actually getting it.

A dedicated care partner beside her offers stability, consistency, and accountability as she strives towards these goals and celebrates new milestones – big or small – in the life she’s building together with her baby.”

Founded in 2020, Her PLAN works in local communities to increase access to resources that sustain a woman’s decision for life. The Care Partner pilot is the organization’s initiative to equip pregnancy centers to provide excellence in care to clients facing complex needs.

To date, the pilot has served 70 women, and 19 babies have been born. The pilot has produced a 67% client retention rate, and success stories include a client earning her GED, clients securing critically needed stable housing and transportation support, and more.

Her PLAN connects and grows the pro-life safety net of medical, social, and material support so mothers and babies are empowered with the support they need to thrive. Her PLAN is a project of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America Education Fund.
