This year, Her PLAN began work to strengthen the pro-life safety net in Arkansas, starting in Saline County. Arkansas Coordinator Lindsey Moon sat down with Vikki Parker, CEO of Options Pregnancy Center and host of podcast Sit on that Stump in Muddy Bottom, to introduce Her PLAN’s mission to the state.
Research shows 60% of women who had an abortion would have preferred to give birth to their child had they received more emotional or material support.
Her PLAN developed Seven Categories of Care — the framework of the pro-life safety net — that address reasons why women resort to abortion so communities can best offer support for her unique needs with comprehensive care. Her needs are often complex — from housing to mental health to legal issues and beyond. Resources to meet her needs may exist in her neighborhood, but she may be unaware of them or find them inaccessible through various barriers.
“Her PLAN steps in to help providers help her,” said Moon. Her PLAN helps the helpers so local assistance providers, such as pregnancy centers, maternity homes, and other local charities and individuals can refer women to vetted resources and focus their time and energy on the mothers sitting in front of them.

Vikki and Lindsey discussed the valuable service Her PLAN provides to those working directly with abortion-vulnerable moms but also stressed the role each of us play in the pro-life movement. “Everyone can do something. It’s time we start thinking outside the box and think about these women holistically,” said Moon.
A clip of Lindsey’s interview was posted on social media and became Her PLAN’s most liked Instagram post.
